Teaching – Exhibit Design Studio “thINK”

The following pages show student work, from the ‘Design for Non-Traditional Environments’ studio taught at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University. In this class students are taught best practices for design in a group and client setting, including ideation, frequent presentation, feedback, critique and design development/iteration practices, through to practical design details such as floorplans, elevations and installation/production drawings and graphic layouts. The designs are grounded in a consideration of the audience engagement touchpoints – human centered design – and the class culminates in the production and an installation of a temporary exhibit. Shown here – work at the IFC, an employee engagement effort to encourage sustainable printing practices. Installation imagery followed by the student team’s design presentation to client.
